Lucille F. Stickel Box Turtle Award Announced The Box Turtle Conservation Committee would like to announce the recipients of the first Lucille F. Stickel Box Turtle Research Award.  The Box Turtle Conservation committee met via telephone conference on June 1, 2009 and selected two proposals as recipients for the Lucille F. Stickel Box Turtle Research Award.  The recipients are John S. Placyk, Jr., Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Texas at Tyler and Ms. Jeanne M. Baker, graduate student at the University of Illinois.  Please see the Stickel Award page for information regarding the selected proposals. The Box Turtle Conservation Committee is very proud to have received many proposals and would like to thank all those with submissions for having put forth a great effort.  While the Committee thought all proposals were deserving our financial resources only allowed for selection of two proposals.  We encourage all those with proposal submissions to continue your research and apply for the Lucille F. Stickel Box Turtle Research Award in the future. -----     -----     -----    ----- The Box Turtle Conservation Committee continues to collect and prepare information from the previous two workshops in preparation for the future release of the workshop proceedings.  A release date has not yet been determined. In addition, future workshop dates will also be announced on this website as soon as preparations begin.  We feel it is correct to publish the proceedings from the previous two workshops prior to taking steps to beginning coordination on the next workshop.   We appreciate your understanding.
