Third Box Turtle Conservation Workshop

The 2007 Box Turtle Wokshop will be held at the Patuxent Reseach Center in Laurel, Maryland and the Londontown Public House in Edgewater, Maryland. Directions to the research center and Londontown can be found below the map . For those arriving by plane the closest major airport to the visitor center is Baltimore Washington International (BWI). BWI is located approximately 20 miles northeast of the Patuxent Research Center. As an alternative Ronald Reagan\Washington National (DCA) airport is located in Washington, D.C. approximately 23 miles southwest of the Patuxent Research Center.

From the Capital Beltway (Hwy I-95):
Take Route 50 east towards Annapolis. TakeRoute 665 (Exit 22 Aris T. Allen Blvd.), for about 1 mile and exit south onto Route 2 South (Solomon's Island Road). Go south over the South River Bridge. Continue about 0.6 mile (3 traffic lights); turn left at the 3rd traffic light onto Mayo Road. Go about 0.8 mile (2 traffic lights) and turn left at the second traffic light onto Londontown Road. Go about 1.0 mile to the end of the road. Stay to the left side and enter the park through the gates.

From BWI Airport:
Take Route 3 south to Route 97. Take Route 97 south to Route 50. Almost immediately after getting on Route 50, you will need to exit right ontoRoute 665 (Exit 22 Aris T. Allen Blvd.). After about 1 mile, exit south onto Route 2 South (Solomon's Island Road). Go south over the South River Bridge. From Laurel area (near the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge):

From Washington, D.C.: Take Baltimore/Washington Parkway (Route 295) North, to Powder Mill Road-Beltsville exit. Turn right (east) onto Powder Mill Road and stay on Powder Mill Road (approx. 2 miles) until you reach the intersection of Route197 and Powder Mill (stoplight). The main gate of Patuxent is straight ahead. Follow entry road into Patuxent.

From Baltimore, MD: Take Baltimore/Washington Parkway (Route 295) South to Laurel exit, Route 197. Turn left on Route 197. Follow 197 approximately 1 1/2 miles to main gate on left (opposite intersection with Powder Mill Road (stoplight)). Follow entry road into Patuxent.

From Annapolis, MD: Take US 50/US 301 West and go approximately 12.5 miles to Exit 11. Take the Collington Rd/MD-197N exit (Exit 11) and bear right. Proceed 8.7 miles to Powder Mill Road intersection (stoplight) and make a right hand turn into the main gate. Follow entry road into Patuxent.
